After Solomon died, the nation of Israel split into two nations—Israel (the northern kingdom) and Judah (the southern kingdom). Israel consisted of ten tribes and Judah consisted of two tribes. The ten-tribe nation of Israel had the city of Samaria as its capital while Judah had Jerusalem as its capital. Jerusalem
